   Proposal Description:
   Deteriorations in everyday activities are one of the hallmark symptoms of         dementia. Different dementia subtypes experience different levels of everyday functioning deficits. This suggests, and has been corroborated by very limited research to date, that different factors predict everyday functioning across dementia. By understanding better the precise predictors of everyday functioning, better interventions can be developed to help people with dementia stay in the community for longer.                                                 In particular, finance and medication management are two activities of daily      living which deteriorate early on. Therefore, these two particular activities require assistance from an early stage and are important to understand better.    The objective of the two suggested papers is to:                                  a) explore in depth the cognitive and motor predictors of finance management      across different dementia subtypes                                                b)explore in depth the cognitive and motor predictors of medication management    across different dementia subtypes and how this may relate to the  types of       medication received.                                                              Whilst this is a burgeoning area of research that is still in its infancy, it is hypothesised that executive function as one cognitive functioning is a         predictor of both finance and medication management.                              Findings from both analyses can help clinical practice and care management, by targeting support and care to the underlying predictors. For example, if          attention is found to be one cognitive predictor of either finance or             medication management, then treatment could provide strategies to improve or      maintain attention at a specific level.
